Traditional trend

It's nearly that time of year, that everything gets a little bit more coated in glitter, a little bit more homely, and a little bit more jolly. My favourite time of year its always a red season when christmas is around. Crafts and gifts are at there high point so it makes sense for fashion to embrace the traditional tartan that is always a hit to keep us warm during the winter months. Mac have embraced tradition with there Fall/ Winter collection.

Macs VIVA GLAM collection  "A Tartan Tale" is perfect for the festive holiday, and is available in stores now. Its defiantly on my christmas list.

Just in time for the NEW Harry potter.

Its finally here, the first installment of the final Harry Potter Movies. My housemate and I have spent the last two weeks updating ourselves on the previous films geeky, I know but have to admit its a massive guilty pleasure. The Film hits cinemas through out the UK on the 19/11/2010 but premiered last night. I can't wait!! Miss Emma Watson was defiantly the centre of attention  sporting her new look, wearing a lace and feather dress by Rafael Lopez for Atelier Mayer, teamed with black heels by Charlotte Olympia.

Her new look a pixie crop which she debuted for british vogue this month sneak peak below. I love it. A high fashion cut to suit her high fashion status.

The Harry Potter fashionita has developed her love for fashion through out the past years. Modelling for burberry named by many as a fashion icon, Miss Watson also has created a collection her for fair trade organic fashion label People Tree. The brand has just won most sustainable brand at the Global fashion awards 2010. A very worthy cause indeed for a pioneering fashion icon indeed.  Emma continues to work with the label and has created a second collection with the company.

For more on Peoples Tree, and to check out there latest collections click on the link above. Been abit of a textile lover at heart I'm loving that emma is supporting fair trade fashion.

On the 02/11/2010 finally the eagerly anticipated Ellie Goulding show at Leed 02 academy had arrived a date waited months for and it was certainly not a disappointment. After hearing friends report she wasn't her best live I wanted her to prove them wrong and put on a awesome show. Which she did not disappoint me, lights and instruments galore all played by herself and her team she is certainly one talented little lady. Flicking between drums, keyboard and guitar while singing I defiantly a bigger fan than before.

Jewellery Blogs - Research

There spring/summer 2011 collection is the ultimate in all my guilty pleasures, disney, mixed with beautiful illustration and jewellery over-accessorizing is key, next summer layer it up ladies.

I love mawi's dynamite rings, If only i could bedazzle myself in them.

After spending the past week in a field with so little jewellery I am currently on a jewellery binge. Festival chic was very much about head wear,  from floral head bands to animal hats. The bizzarer the better, much to my pleasure there was glitter paint every where.  My favourite band had to be Arcade Fire, after not really listening to much of there stuff they actually blue me away with there set at leeds 2010.

defiantly a crowd pleaser.

CATH KIDSTON charity event

On Tuesday myself and My friend went to the Cath Kidston charity event supporting Marie Claire Cancer Charity.

It was an exciting event to say the least we were like children in candy shop, with constant grins and rosy checks. Spending nearly two hours deeply indulged in floral patterns, glittery strawberrys, and the cutest of primary shades.
The representative from Marie Claire says that the whole night raised at least two nights worth of care for someone, through the ticket prices alone. Money well spent if you ask me.

To create this wondrous event Cath Kidston teamed up with "the marvelous tea and dance company" to help create a lovely evening had by all.

Aswell as showcasing the new AW10 collection from Cath Kidston. Here as some of my favourite pieces:

Through out my placement and numerous interviews I have come to realise that Indesign is a widely used tool within industry  however we are not taught to use it within uni.

I have recently been using Indesign to create flyers and designs through my placement, helping promote our sales by making an online invitation for key customers.
This is my final result after a few attempts of tweaking to get everything as perfect as possible.
By all means please go check out the sale.

Placement update.

I have almost been at my placement for 2 months now it has flown by. I am working with a high end jewellery designer.

Maria lau-

I think I found a new passion for jewellery unfortunately my loves are far to expensive for me to afford at the minute. Including these little gems.

Jessica Kagan Cushman
She creates Bracelets with Quirky quotes. Some of my favourites are - "Do I look fat in this bracelet?"
"Double double, toil and trouble. Fire burn and cauldron bubble"

Hello.... sorry its been so long.

I'm currently staying on my own in Leeds, although I have to admit silly amounts of nothing to do on my days off, due to sorting out housing and job/placement arrangements. I have to admit I am falling in love with this city.

I certainly think city living is in my blood, I cant help but feel at home commuting to my placement, which is a feeling that has never happened before sadly. I am even starting to recognize the people on my everyday journey. When I give up my commute and live closer to my placement these faces will certainly be missed.

I am using my dad's mac as my laptop is dying a death, RIP. However whilst browsing his music collection it become more and more apparent how musical my upbringing has been. I've spend my day of discovering Motown classics and found a new guilty pleasure in the Eagles amongst other which are far to cheesy to name in public they most certainly are guilty pleasures.

summer 2010 - Overview.

This summer it seem's tribal chic is sweeping all areas of the market this summer, from the vibrant colours sweeping the fashion industry to bold colours within our interiors. The bold colours are everywhere from our summer wardrobes to even our summer movies. With the Sex and the City girl's jetting off to Abu Dhabi where the mocorrcan colour palettes can't help but spice up our summers.

haus of gaga at river island.

The haus of gaga have teamed up with River Island and come up with some pretty cute pieces for our summer wardrodes.
The haus of gaga is the creative team behind lady gaga, making her globally marketable. The haus of gaga create clothing, "disco sticks" and ipod glasses as well as some of the things you see through out some of her videos.
Here's a sneaky peak at some of the item that are now in river island stores across the country, bring a high street touch to gaga herself.

Not only does the lady herself provide us with numberous summer hits she's also making headphones so while were practicising her dance moves we can listen in style. The haus of gagah have also teamed up with beats by Dr dre himself and monster cable to create a range of "heartbeats" head phones.

It seems Gaga is definately providing her army of little monsters with a few treats this spring/summer.

Look I'm a model.....

A friend of mine asked me to do some modeling for her final degree show. Its based on a campaign for Urban Decay make up, in order to show the general market that is been aimed at and her idea is to create a campaign idea of the ideal urban decay costume.
This first shot is a preview of how some of the photos will turn out. This is an edited version.

When all the photos have been finished and edited they will be available on the photographers (Heather Lawrences) website:
